SAFA Surf & Yoga Camp has been at the heart of Arugam Bay’s surf community since 2010. Founded and run by Fawas Lafeer — Secretary General of the Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka, ISA Level 2 certified coach and former WSL competitor. As Arugam Bay continues to grow in tourism, this brings an influx in uncertified coaches to the area. Fawas and SAFA prides itself on a simple goal: To provide the most seemless, safe and educational surfing experience through ISA certified coaches.
Growing up in Arugam Bay, Fawas has spent his life in the water. He co-founded the Arugam Bay Surf Club in 2006 and has since trained the majority of surf instructors currently teaching on the bay. At SAFA, that knowledge and passion becomes yours.
Meet our accredited surf instructing team
5:00am – Wake up, indulge in Coffee and local fruits before heading out to surf as the sun rises
8:00am – Optional Yoga or personal time
9:00am – Enjoy your personally selected breakfast made with local whole foods
Free time – Explore Arugam Bay, enjoy a safari, jump in the ocean, shop at local stores or just relax at SAFA
2:30pm – Surf theory with Fawas
3:30pm – Video analysis with tailored feedback from Fawas to implement in the afternoon
4:30pm – Back to the surf! Putting theory into practice
7:30pm – Dinner time! Using freshly caught fish or local specialities, we tailor to your dietary requirements
